It was finally summer in the UK and we were spending more time on our balcony. Unfortunately our table had spent more than 2 years outside and the top was so crooked that you could hardly place a glass on top of it without falling over. Time for restoration ...

Before restoration
After restoration

Since the structure was still functioning our plan was to only replace the top. We bought 6m of hardwood from our local timber store with width and thickness similar to the wood we wanted to replace and cut them to length.

Fortunately the old wood strips were easy to remove. After that we could screw on the replacements and sand them slightly.

After everything was put together we treated the table with hardwood outdoor furniture oil with teak colour. To protect the table we applied three coats, lightly sanding between them. With it we are able to enjoy the British sun on our balcony with a place to put a cool drink. Let's hope the summer will last for a little while ...
